Ljubo Bešlić introduced NATO representatives with the idea of a firefighting base in Mostar
During today's meeting in the City Hall of Mostar, representatives of the NATO Headquarters for BiH, led by Deputy Commander Morten Henriksen and the Mayor of Mostar Ljubo Bešlić, emphasized the need for better firefighting equipment of the Armed Forces of BiH.
Satisfaction was expressed in the current cooperation of members of the Armed Forces with NATO in all segments of civil society, especially in the area of the fire brigade.
When asked about the purchase of an Air tractor for firefighting, which is necessary for this county, Beslić said that it is too expensive for this county and he pointed out that the conversation sought another possible solution, such as a firefighting base in Mostar.
"We reminded NATO representatives of an earlier plan, 15 years old, to build a fire base at Mostar airport that would cover the entire Adriatic, and even part of Italy. We asked for that possibility to be examined again, I think it would be useful for everyone. At the moment, it is too early to have an answer to this proposal, "Bešlić said.
As he said, he believes that this is the beginning of discussion that may bring some results. On this occasion, NATO representatives and the Mayor also visited the premises of the Mostar Health Center.
