Principal Deputy High Representative Bruce Berton visited Mostar today where he had a meeting with Mayor Ljubo Bešlić, representatives of the political parties HDZ BiH, SDA and HDZ 1990, and where he discussed about the current situation in the city and Constitutional Court ruling regarding the elections in Mostar. Mostar Blues & Rock Festival, the most important international show of blues-rock groups in BiH, will be held from 16 to 18 of July, at the premises of the Music Center Pavarotti and OKC"Abrašević". In the program of the 13th edition of this festival nine groups which prefer traditional as well as modern approach to blues and rock music will perform. From London's Nine Below Zero, a group founded in 1977, the owner of 21 album, through the American author and producer Mike Zito, to the German master of blues Blues Company and the French band Big Dez, this festival continues to foster the tradition of true musicianship and high-quality production.
The main topics of the meeting were preventive fire protection measures and recommendations for the protection against high temperatures, which are forecasted for the upcoming days.
Commander of Fire brigade Mostar Mr. Petar Jurić informed the members of staff on the status of fire protection in the city. He noted that the Fire Department Mostar is much better prepared this season than in previous years, because of conducted significant procurement of modern material and technical resources, and the hiring of new firefighters.
About 2,000 citizens of Mostar last nightenjoyed a concert by Colonia under the Old Bridge. The event was organized as part of celebration of decade since inscription of the Old Bridge Area of the Old City on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The two-hour concert also was the end of the two-day event organized by the City Administration of Mostar, marking the 10th anniversary of the entry of the Old Bridge on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
A concert by the Symphony Orchestra Mostar and the program "The Bridge Embracing the River Banks" under the Old Bridge last night continued marking the tenth anniversary of the entry of the Old Bridge and the Old Town on the UNESCO World Heritage List. "Cultural heritage is the identifying element of every city which makes it different from others. It gives a specific feature. I can not think of a city that has such a distinctive landmark in the world such as the Old Town with the Old Bridge in Mostar. It represents the hope and a symbol of reconciliation,” said Mayor of Mostar Mr. Ljubo Bešlić.
By ceremonial cutting ribbon Mayor of Mostar Mr. Ljubo Bešlić and Deputy State Minister of Civil Affairs Mr. Đorđe Miličević last night in old town of Mostar opened renewed shop of legendary Mostar mayor Mujaga Komadina, which was built in 1883. Komadina was mayor of Mostar from 1909 to 1918 and in that time he put all his potential in the service of the prosperity of this city.
