City of Mostar has successfully finished its assignment in Project Interreg MED IMPULSE
The final Project Conference Interreg MED IMPULSE , under which Days of Energy Efficiency are organised, was held on Tuesday in Mostar and it gathered mayors of cities and municipalities in BiH.
Project Manager Darko Knezović pointed out that the City of Mostar has successfully finished its assignment in this Project and that at this Conference he wants to share positive and rich experience gained from partners-Spain, Greece, France, Croatia and Italy with others municipalities and cities in BiH.
He estimated that the European Community set the target of renewing three percent of public buildings annually, and that the City of Mostar made a scheme of five percent, but the city is not capable of doing this on its own, so it relies on financial partners.
Speaking of what Mostar has done so far, he said that a majority of public buildings were recorded, 75 of them, and based on these detailed reviews, energy simulation was carried out where four types of reconstruction were made for all types of objects.
A pilot project for complete renovation of the Regional Office West was completed, and all that has been done within the overall project will be visible on one GIS platform.
- This is a nice story on Energy Efficiency through which we can come to the renovation of these objects-said Knezović.
According to the Mayor the aim is to put thermo-insulation on all public facilities and this way save significant amounts regarding energy consumption.
He also pointed out that Mostar introduces LED lighting and that there are number of projects through the system of "smart cities" which, in his words, will clearly show in the near future.
- In this way, we want to teach young generations to preserve the environment, to take care of ecology and to have a healthy life and much better conditions, both in the city and in the region. Only in such a way we will join European trends – said Mayor.
Prime Minister of HNC Mr. Nevenko Herceg stressed that he was particularly pleased that the City of Mostar and the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton were seriously involved in the energy efficiency project.
- Our canton has been an active member of the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion for ten years, and I see that the city is increasingly involved through the Association of the Cities of the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion and that these important projects are coming - said Herceg.
He said that the Government of HNC in this assembly has been actively and quality involved in this Project.
So far, we have restored more than 25 public buildings and have invested more than 20 million BAM in the project of energy renewal of public buildings, together with the World Bank, UNDP and our budget funds over the last four years - emphasized Herceg and added that the goal is the reconstruction of all public facilities in HNC.
The City of Mostar as a partner in the implementation of the Interreg MED IMPULSE project organized the Energy Efficiency Days that started on June 14th, in which, besides today's conference, a workshop on the energy renewal of public buildings was held as well as children’s play 'Puna vreća želja", which was born through the implementation of the Interreg IPA CBC IRENE Project.
